FTA Chapter 15

Sustainable Food Systems Commercial Readiness

Select the treaty workstream and transaction requirements. The output separates FTA cooperation from applicable EU and Indian checks and prepares the evidence needed for commercial execution.

Why this check applies

Checks whether production, processing, storage, transport, packaging and food-loss controls can support the proposed buyer and transaction.

The treaty supports cooperation. It does not replace applicable EU or Indian food, import, safety, environmental or product rules.

EU-India FTA Chapter 15

Sustainable food-system readiness

Review food-security context, food-loss and waste measures, and animal-welfare evidence as part of the existing controlled sustainable-food-system workflow.

Manual review required

Food security

Resilience and availability review

  • Describe the food product, supply route and intended market.
  • Identify relevant availability and supply-continuity considerations.
  • Record resilience, sourcing and production-capacity evidence.
  • Identify risks requiring specialist or competent-authority review.

Food loss and waste

Prevention and reduction readiness

  • Identify material loss points across production and distribution.
  • Record storage, packaging and shelf-life controls.
  • Describe waste-prevention, recovery or responsible-disposal measures.
  • Provide supporting measurements and operational evidence where available.

Animal welfare

Welfare-evidence readiness

  • Identify whether animals or animal-derived products are involved.
  • Record applicable production, handling and transport controls.
  • Organise welfare declarations, certifications and supplier evidence.
  • Refer legal or regulatory conclusions for competent manual review.

Review boundary

This readiness function supports evidence preparation and controlled manual review only. It does not approve food-security compliance, sustainability performance, animal-welfare compliance, product eligibility, certification or market access.
